Metro Detector - Commercial Gas Detector (for car parks, tunnels, factories, distribution depots etc)

The Metro Addressable Gas Detector enables remote monitoring...

OVERVIEW

The Metro Addressable Gas Detector enables remote monitoring of flammable and toxic gas hazards commonly found in car parks, tunnels or other areas where automotive vehicles may operate. Leaks from fuel lines may include flammable materials such as LPG or petrol, while exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen that are toxic. The Metro system comprising multiple Detectors and Controller is designed to protect people from such hazards while minimizing building running costs through economical control of ventilation systems.

The Metro Detector offers simple and low cost installation. The mounting base is fixed into position without the detector fitted, thereby offering unhindered access to terminals for the installer. 4 x 1mm2 (17AWG) screened cable can be terminated at each base with terminals for cable in, out and spur. Once all cabling is complete, the Detector simply plugs into the base and is secured into position via 2 screws. Every detector is supplied complete with one of 2 types of vandal proof guard, flush or surface mount.

Set up and configuration could not be easier. Each detector is configured using the ZHC2 infrared remote control (supplied with each controller). Configurable options include gas type, address, 4 alarm set points (instantaneous or time weighted action), local relay (trip point, energised/de-energised operation, NO/NC link selectable), local audible alarm operation (active or disabled) and calibration. The ZHC2 saves each Detector setting for download to the Controller, thereby configuring all Controller inputs quickly and easily.

Reliable operation and ease of maintenance played a key part in the design of the Metro Detector. Trouble free long life can be expected using Honeywell Analytics patented SurecellTM; electrochemical toxic sensor technology and poison resistant catalytic bead flammable sensors. Detectors are serviceable to reduce on-going costs to an absolute minimum.

With each controller capable of powering up to 250 detectors, without the need for booster power supplies, a Metro system is sure to offer installers and end users the lowest cost and safest gas monitoring solution on the market today.

Metro Controller
Addressable, fully programable
The Metro Controller is capable of monitoring up to 250 remote...

OVERVIEW

The Metro Controller is capable of monitoring up to 250 remote addressable flammable and toxic Metro gas detectors. Together they form the Metro system designed to protect people from flammable and toxic gas hazards commonly found in car parks, tunnels or other areas where automotive vehicles may operate.

The Metro Controller provides automatic control of ventilation systems that maintain gas levels at or below a safe level. Where gas levels rise above maximum exposure limits, the Metro system raises alarms to instigate site evacuation. By integrating the gas monitoring systems and ventilation control, not only are harmful gases kept to safe levels but building running costs are also minimized.

The system allows for two separate radial circuits up to 1Km (3000 feet) long using industry standard cable. Each circuit provides power and communications for up to 125 addressable detectors. The AC system design ensures no booster power supplies are required to achieve long cable runs, greatly simplifying the system specification, installation and operation.

Equipment installation and commissioning is kept as simple as possible. A wall-mounting bracket is provided to which the slimline Controller is fitted. All cables and conduits enter the lower side of the Controller via the pre-formed knockouts. Clearly marked terminals ensure cabling connections are rapidly completed.

Once the Controller and detectors are installed and powered up, the Controller automatically recognizes which detectors are fitted. Adjustment of detector settings can be made via an infrared remote control unit as required.

With up to 250 addressable gas detectors fitted to a system, each with 4 alarm levels, up to 1000 alarm events can be detected by the Controller, all of which are logged for later review. Grouping, voting and activation of up to eight fully programmable relays can be set up via the push-button interface or optional PC software. Each relay can be configured for normally energized/de-energized, latching/non-latching and on/off delay operation. Manual override switches for all relays are included as standard in the Controller. In addition, system operation may be forced remotely via a Remote Override Box if required.

Easy to specify, install and operate, used as a stand-alone gas monitoring system or as part of a wider building management system, the Metro gas detection system ensures people are kept safe from gas hazards and building operating costs are minimized.
